Artwork Story
This artwork was done as apart of a workshop with a Kindergarten and I did two sessions at the centre to educate the groups of children on the symbols and the tradition of storytelling.
There were two main classes which are represented through the larger meeting places and there are people/children symbols around them, one for each person in the class. There are a strong line of woman at the bottom of the piece, representing each of the 7 teachers.
The centre is located on Bunurong Country which is known for its connection to the coast line which is shown at the top of the piece.
Educating young ones on my people's culture gives me Manakanyoong 'Hope'. It gives me Manakanyoong that one day we will be a reconciled nation.
