Artwork Story
This artwork depicts the houses built on the Framingham Mission, on Gunditjmara Country.
Fram is the Mission my great grandparents were born, and now their Spirits live.
Situated on the Hopkins River, it highlights the waterways, community, and strength of my Elders.
From Fram is Blacks Lane, the name it still bears today.
Why so colorful?
For me, despite the hardships of Fram, it represents the power, resilience and pride of my people.
When I think of qualities, I see and feel a brightness, a light that gives hope.
That’s what this painting represents to me.
